The legendary Commodores vocalist, best known for songs such as Dancing on the Ceiling, has previously stated that singing is his “soul.” As a result, he was devastated when he was told he needed four treatments stretched out over four years to treat an unknown throat ailment.
The star characterized the episode, which occurred when he was also dealing with personal issues, as “about as close as you’d ever come to a nervous breakdown.”
