The Iron Sheik, a WWE Hall of Famer and former world champion, passed away at 81. He was one of the most recognizable and famous names in professional wrestling.

The Iranian wrestler, whose full name is Hossein Khosrow Ali Vaziri, was a mainstay of the WWE in the 1980s. He embraced his role as a colorful antagonist and engaged in rivalries with several other wrestlers, most notably Hulk Hogan.

The Iron Sheik’s official Twitter account posted a message announcing the information. The statement reads, “He enthralled fans worldwide with his larger-than-life persona, great charm, and unequaled in-ring skills. “He was a trailblazer, breaking down barriers and paving the way for a diverse range of wrestlers who followed in his footsteps.”
